This unit is designed to teach students describing animals and expressing preferences. This lesson is close to our real lives. And it make

2、s students know the situation of the elephants in Thailand and it arouses students to know the importance of protecting elephants and other animals, meanwhile students should know how to protect them and what we can do in daily life. In the process of learning, students are encouraged to improve the

3、ir reading skills and speaking silks. Students are expected to go on learning the key words and target language learnt in the first three periods of this unit. Analysis of the students: Students in Grade 7 are eager to learn more new language expression and they are willing to improve their English

4、abilities. They have known animals are humans friends when they were younger kids, and now they may want to know more about the situation of animals and what could they do to protect them. So they must be interested in the topic of this class. They are supposed to practice scanning, conclude the mai

5、n idea of a passage and remember much information by a mind map. Maybe its a little difficult for some students to know how to use a mind map for the first time. Teaching aims: Knowledge Objectives: By the end of this class, Ss will be able to use the following phrases. 1. students from Thailand 2.

6、save the elephants 3. one of Thailands symbols 4. a symbol of good luck 5. get lost 6. be in great danger 7. cut down 8. things made of ivory Ability Objectives: a) Students practice reading skill, scanning. b) Students can conclude the main idea of a passage. 2 c) Students learn to remember much in

7、formation by a mind map. Moral Objectives: Students know the importance of protecting animals and what they can do to save them. Type of lesson: Reading Class period: 40minutes Important points: a) Students know the situation of the elephants in Thailand and how to protect them. b) Students learn so

8、me reading strategies. Difficult points: After reading, students need to retell the passage by the mind map. Teaching methods: Direct method, Audio-lingual method, the Audio-visual approach, Task-based language teaching approach. Learning methods: a) Students are guided to learn some reading strateg

9、ies. b) Students are encouraged to learn by themselves. c) Ss are leaded to use the target language correctly. Its designed to help Ss arouse their interests in what they are learning in this class and focus on the animals which are in danger. At the 3 students what animals are in danger now. 4. After getting the opinions, teacher sh

12、ows students the video about the endangered elephants and asks them to say which animals are in danger in this video. 5. Write the title of this class: Unit5 Period4 Lets protect and save the elephants. 2. After watching the video, students know the situation of elephants and know we should protect
