Teaching aims: 1. By traveling around our world, students are able to read and listen the new words:China, France, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia; 2. By talking with friends from different countries, students are able to ask and answer with the sentences : “Where are you from?” and “I come from.”. 3. After knowing about famous buildings and countries,students are able to learn about the typical cultures of different countries. 4. Students are able to understand that we come from one world, so we should be friendly to our families. . Keys and Difficulties 1. The words: The pronunciation of “France” and “ Australia” 2. The sentences: “Where are you from?” and “I come from.”. . Teaching tools: Flags, maps and PPT. . Teaching procedures: Step 1. Lead-in 2 Activity 1: Greetings Activity 2: Introduction of Kiki and Revision 2.1. the name of our friend: Kiki 2.2. Lead Ss to say Hello to Kiki. 2.3. Help Ss to guess where Kiki is from. 2.4. Ss welcome Kiki to our country. 设计意图:在认识新朋友 Kiki 的过程中,复习回顾回顾本册第二单 元的句型 “Im. .Im from.”,让学生初步感知新句型“Where are you from?”。同时引导学生进入 “和 Kiki 一起旅游” 的情境。 Step 2. Presentation Word and Sentences 1. China 1.1. The Pronunciation of China. Letter “i” and “a”, and the national flag(Send the flag to the Ss who do good jobs.). 1.2. Show Ss a short video of the Great Wall and the picture of the Tianan Men Square. T: Im so proud. Im from China. And you? Ss: Im from China. T: We also can say: I come from China. (Help Ss to read “come from”) T: Kiki wants to travel around our world. Lets go with Kiki. 3 2. France 2.1. Show Ss a video about the French Chateau. 2.2. Ask Ss to talk with a French boy Learn how to ask “Where are you from?” and answer “I come from.”. 2.3. The pronunciation of France. Letter “a” and “e”, and the national flag of France.(Send the flag to the Ss who do good jobs.). 2.4. Show Ss the Picture of the Eiffel Tower. 2.5. Say Goodbye to the French boy with Ss. 3. The UK 3.1. Show Ss the video about English buildings, such as The Big Ben, the London Eye, the St. Pauls Cathedral and the Tower Bridge; 3.2. Ask Ss Where we are and communicate with Kate(England Princess). (Send the flag to the Ss who do good jobs.) 3.3. Teach Ss to read “the UK”. 4. The USA 4.1. Show Ss the video of NBA and help them to guess where it is. 4.2. Teach Ss to read “the USA”(Send the flag to the Ss who do good jobs.). 4.3.Talk with James(a famous basketball- player) 5. Canada 5.1 Show Ss the beautiful pictures of maple leaves and lead them to guess where it is. 4 5.2. Ask Ss to make friends with Linda. 5.3 Teach Ss to read “Canada” . (Pay more attention on the pronunciation of Letter “a” and Send the flag to the Ss who do good jobs.) 6. Australia 6.1 Show Ss the pictures of cute kangaroo and koalas, then lead them to guess where it is. 6.2 Talk with the cute koala and act the koala. 6.3 Teach Ss to read “Australia”. 设计意图:六个国家的教学顺序是根据其地理位置进行排列的。之 所以将“the UK”与“the USA”先后进行教学,是因为其构词的相 似性。这样符合学生的认知规律,更有助于学生习得这两个国家。 到达最后两个国家,帮助学生适当拓展,让学生能在第三个环节中 表达得更多。 Step 3. Practice and Extention Activity 1: Review the new words. Activity 2: Part A 2.1. Lead Ss to Know six freinds in the International Camp. (their names and their different appearances) 2.2. Ask Ss to Listen and write the names of six friends on the map. Ss can use “An” for “Anne”, “Al” for “Alex”, “Am” for “ Amily” 2.3. Ask Ss to read after the video of Part A and then read with it. 5 Activity 3: International Camp 3.1. All the Ss come from different countries, and they are in an International Camp now. They can make friends with what theyve learn in this class. 3.2. Ask several Ss to show their talking. . Conclusion Tell Ss that friends come from different countries but we are from one world. Hence, we should be friendly to our families.
