Homework Talk about your growing-up story with your partner. 1 Unit6 Growing Up lesson 1 Part I Analysis of the Teaching Material and students Lesson 1 of Unit 6 is from Peoples Education Press ,book 10.It is about growing up. Lesson 1 plays a very important part in unit 6. It provides the words of growing up and it is easier for Ss to learn the new sentence structure of lesson 2.After studying this lesson,it is hoped that the Ss will be able to talk about their growing up stories. Our students are in Grade 5.They are active and curious,interested in new things. So when teachers teach new knowledge,theyd better use some games and activities.Especially growing up is a very common topic.If Ss can use English to talk about their growing up stories,they must be very happy. According to the Analysis of the Teaching Material and students and based on the New English Course Standard ,I set the following aims. PartPart Teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims: 1.The Ss can listen, read and say the new phrases: 2 was born,started to speak,learned to walk,learned to ride a bike,went to the kindergarten,went to school,learnrd to swim. 2) To enable the Ss to understand and speak, “When did you .?” “When I was.” 2. Ability aims: 1)To develop the Ss abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. 2) To use these new phrases to express themselves in real situation. 3) To develop the Ss ability of communication. 3. Moral aims: 1) To foster the Ss consciousness of good cooperation and proper competition. 2)To stimulate Ss interest in learning English. 3)To educate the Ss to realize that the parents hard work and love their family. PartTeaching key and difficult points: 1. Key points: Master the new phrases.,help the Ss listen, read and say the sentences . 2. Difficult point: To help the Ss express the new sentences in real situation. 3 Teaching aids: Multimedia, cards. Part Teaching Methods Tasked-based teaching, communicative approach, situational teaching and games. Part Teaching Procedure Before the class, Ill divide the whole class into two groups to make a competition in the class to make sure the part “lets play ”easily. Step1 Warming-up Greetings. Step2 Lead in Sing a song.The song is about what the children did last weenkend.Then ask Ss what you did last weekend.I will show the picture“My family” on ppt and tell them that I went to the park with my daughter last weekend . The introduction of my daughter. Purpose: to focus the pupils attention and arouse their interest. Stage 3 Presentation Words and sentences Teachers Lead the pupils to learn the words 4 activityabout growing up. Pupils activities Read one by one, read line by line, read group by group, girls read, boys read. For example, was born, she was born on March 30th,2017. What did you start to walk? When I was one. Purpose: to help pupils remember the new words easily .To help pupils get enough practice. To teach the new words in sentences so that the pupils can get a good sense of language and be able to master the new words easier. Stage 4 Consolidation Work in pairs A:Where did you_? B: When I was_. Purpose: to offer them chance to practice the sentence patterns step by step. Listen and match Purpose: to help pupils practice the target language step by step, from easy to hard. Help them master the new words and phrases gradually and feel satisfied in success. 5 Stage 5 Summary Teachers activity Lead pupils to make a summary. Pupils activities Do a summary of words and sentence patterns. Purpose: Help students to consolidate the target language. Stage 6 Homework Talk about their growing up stories with others.
