These pictures are very helpful for students to study the knowledge. The topic of this lesson is about physical conditions. Ask and answer others physical conditions and express the caring about others. Such a topic is related to Students daily life. It is helpful for them in daily communication .So I think they can grasp the contents easily. 2. Analysis of Students Our students are in Grade 4. They are active, expressive, imaginative with high learning enthusiasm. It is easy for students to accept new knowledge. After learning English for one year, they have some basic vocabulary and background knowledge. So, to stimulate and cultivate students interest of learning English is the most important thing. 3. Teaching Aims Depending on the requirement of the English curriculum standard and the characteristic of students age, I set the teaching aims from three aspects: Knowledge Aims: 1. Students can read and know the new words: cold, headache, toothache, stomachache. 2. Students can grasp the sentence patterns: -Lets go to the . -Thats a good idea. -Whats the matter? -I have a . -Thats too bad. Take care. 3. Students can read and understand the story. Ability Aims: 1. Students can ask and answer physical conditions and express the caring about others. 2. Students ability of listening, speaking, reading, and writing can be improved. Emotional Aims: 1. Students consciousness of participation, cooperation, and creation can be developed. 2. Students would like to care for and help others. 4. Key Points and Difficult Points Key points: students can grasp the new words and sentence patterns. Difficult points: The spelling and pronunciation of these words: headache, toothache, stomachache. 5. Teaching Methods As we all know, the main teaching aims of learning English in primary school is to stimulate and cultivate students interest. So in this lesson, I mainly use four teaching methods. “TPR teaching method”, “Task-based language teaching method” “Situational language teaching method” “Communicative language teaching method”, I design these activities: games, songs, pair works, role-play, etc. And in this lesson, recorder, CAI, cards will be needed. For students, they learn the knowledge through learning-by-doing, cooperative, communicative, learning-by-playing strategy. 6. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warm up 1. Greeting Daily greetings between teachers and students will build a harmonious atmosphere. 2. Sing a song I begin my lesson with a beautiful song If you are happy. Students sing and dance together happily. After that, I ask them a question “Are you happy today” to lead in this class. Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding at the beginning of the class. This song can stimulate students interest of learning English. At the same time, it makes a good preparation for the next step. Step Word Fun 1. Learn the new words. After a simple revision, I teach three new words. Because these three new words are the key points and difficult points in this lesson,so to break through the difficult points, I show students a mini- class about physical conditions. Purpose: Mini-class is a useful way in my teaching. It can help students to make a good understanding about physical conditions and memorize the spelling and pronunciation of these words. After that, I teach these words in different ways. Here I show students cards and pictures and I use phonics and high-low voice and TPR methods. Students can be a teacher, coming in front of the classroom, instead of me, teach the new words. It is a good way in this class because it can stimulate students interest. 2. Practice the new words. After knowledge input, Its time to practice the new words. I design three activities. First, Its a popular song PPAP, then I change this song like this. This activity requires every student to participate in English class, sing and dance together. Purpose: It can not only stimulate students interest, but also help them memorize three new words. Second, Its a game: quick response. I show them some pictures. If they know the picture, just stand up and read it as soon as possible. Purpose: This activity is to draw students attention and quick response. It can also combine the words and pictures, which from English book on page 22.It helps them remember the pictures. Third, Its a TPR activity: I say, you do. I do, you say. Purpose: This activity trains students listening and reaction. It is a higher lever for students. Because It requires students apply the knowledge to real life. Learning-by-doing method is used here. Step Talk Together 1. Make new sentences Show students the first picture on page 22. Let them look and describe, then read the dialogue together and in roles. After that, students should ask and answer to make new sentences. Purpose: This activity is to help students learn sentences through a true situation and check if students can use these sentences correctly. Situational teaching method and Communicative teaching method are used here. 2. Pair work After reading the second dialogue together, this time, I ask students work in pairs to practice the dialogue. And then act and show. Purpose: This activity can not only foster Students cooperative spirit, but also improve their spoken English. “Task-based teaching method” and Cooperative learning method are used here. Step Read and Act 1. Look and tell the story Peter Pan. 2. Listen to the tape. 3. Read the story in roles. 4. Make up new story in groups and act it out. Purpose: Through speaking, listening, reading, and acting, students have a good understanding about this story. And their creative spirit and cooperative consciousness can be developed. At last, Choose the best group. It can also stimulate students interest. Step Summary and Homework After learning the story, students should know that helping others makes ourselves happy. We should often help others. Homework: Write down the new story.
