Overall Design and guiding Principles This is a reading and writing lesson which aims to develop students ability in talking about past experience. Meanwhile, students reading skill and writing skill will be improved through the reading exercise. In this lesson I mainly employed pair work and group work teaching method, Natural Approach as well as the Communicative Language Teaching Method to create certain scene and ask students to complete relevant tasks, assist them to learn in a relaxed atmosphere and build a confidence towards reading, thus forming the habit of active learning and improving their comprehensive language competence. The lesson will start a chant about the Simple Past Tense. Then I will show some pictures featuring the new words (played the piano, showed hip-hop dance, showed Chinese kung fu )to impress students the key words so as to make preparation for the following reading section. Next, the students will master the comprehension through pair work and group work. These two activities can improve students speaking sill and reading skill. (2)To reinforce students impression of the key words by ranking. Step III. While-reading Activity I. Skimming Skim through the passage and ask students to circle the shows. The purpose of my design: (1)To enable students to grasp the main idea, especially the key words of the reading material. (2)Meanwhile, it is an excellent way to examine if students had a good command of the words they had learned in the prereading part. Activity 2 Group work I will divide the whole class into six groups and each group has four students, they will ask and answer the questions about what the students did on the stage.
