1、2011.10.31主讲：主讲：XXX 在英语学习中,我们常遇到某些短语,句型和句子,它们形式上是否定的,意义上却是肯定的,这类结构不仔细辨认,往往容易望”形”生义,造成误解.英语中的否定形式表示肯定意义一、表达肯定意义的否定形式短语:1.cannot(help)but 意思是”不得不,不会不”,相当于 can only,be obliged to.He cannot but admit that he was wrong.他只好承认自己错了。Hearing the joke,you cannot help but laugh.听了这个笑话，你一定会笑。2.nothing but/none b
2、ut 意为“只是，只有”相当于 onlyThe story was nothing but lies.The story was nothing but lies.那番话纯属谎言。那番话纯属谎言。None but fools believe his words.只有傻瓜才相信他的话。3.more often than not 意为“常常，往往”，相当于 very frequentlySmith is an excellent athlete.He wins more often than not.史密斯是个出色的运动健将，他常常在比赛中获奖。4.no(none)other than4.no(n

9、ver read.这是我看过的最有趣的书。8.cant too意为“越越，无论怎样也不过分”，在 此结构中，cant也可改用can hardly/scarcely/never等；too也可改用over ,enough等。A man can never have too many friends.朋友越多越好。You cannot be too careful when crossing the street.穿越马路时，再怎么小心也不为过 I cant thank you enough.我对你感激不尽。9.never too.to.意为“永不，决不”。Its never too old to
10、learn.活到老，学到老。10.too.not to.表示“太不会不”，具有肯定意义。He is too careful not to have noticed it.他那么小心，一定会注意到这一点的。11.no的否定意义很强，和具有否定意义的名词连用，表示强烈的肯定。Jack is no fool.He wont believe it.杰克绝不是傻瓜，他不会相信的。There is no question that Tom will succeed.毫无疑问，汤姆会成功。12.双重否定表示强烈的肯定。There is nothing unusual there.那里的一切都很正常。They
