Teaching aids: a VCD , Picture cards, Procedure: The 2nd Period (conversation, practice 1 & 2) Step 1. Warm-up and revision i.Say hello to the students. ii.Do a free talk about yesterday . iii.Learn the chant . iv.Spelling test of the vocabulary. Step 2. Presentation I.Show a picture of desert. T: Do you where is it? Its a desert. (Explain the word.) T: What do we need in the desert? Ss: water- a bottle of water, food. T:Lets go to the desert with Gogo, Tony and Jenny. I.Have Ss listen to the CD without the subtitles. II.Ask Ss answer two questions. a.What did Gogo eat this morning? (Here ask Ss to pay attention to the different persons, e.g. you, they, he. she) b.Did Gogo drink anything this morning? III.T explains some difficult points in the conversation. Step 3. The 2nd reading I.Ask Ss to listen to the CD with the subtitles again. II.Ask Ss to read the conversation after CD. III.Ask Ss to read the conversation by themselves and find out whether some difficulties about the conversation. IV.Have Ss ask some questions about the conversation. V.Role play. Let the students use the real objects to practice the dialogue in groups, then act it out. Step 4 Practice 1 I.Have Ss to write down the past tense verb phrases about every picture in practice 1. II.T asks the question in picture A of practice 1. III.Have one student to answer it.( Make a model to Ss) IV.Have Ss to do the pair work about practice 1. V.Ask some pairs to show their dialogue. VI.Listen and finish Practice1. VII.Check the answers together. Step 6 Closure I.T and S1 to demonstrate Practice2. II.Have Ss to do the pair work. III.Ask some pairs to show the dialogue.
