Unit 2 A magic day -3 Teaching aims: a.Ss will be able to master pronunciation of the letters “dr”. b.Review and consolidate the usage of past tense verbs well. Important points: Vocabulary: draw, dress, driver, drink, children, bedroom. Difficult points: a.Ss will be able to know some past tense verbs. b.Ss will be able to Master pronunciation of the letters “dr” Teaching aids: a VCD , Picture cards Procedure: The 3rd Period (Activity & sounds and words) Step 1. Warm-up and revision i.Say hello to the students. ii.T says something about last weekend. (Ask Ss to pay attention to use the past tense verbs.) iii.Ask Ss to say two or three sentences about his/her weekend. Step 2. Presentation I.Bring in Picture Cards. II.Go over the vocabulary (simple form and past tense form) with Ss. III.Ask Ss to open the books and skim through the whole passage. (Ask Ss to pay attention the beginning sentence.) IV.Then ask Ss to fill in the blanks. Step 3. Activity I.Walk around the class to provide help if needed. II.When Ss are ready, have Ss read out Tonys diary together loud. III.Explain some difficulties in the passage. IV.Ask one student to read the first question and ask another student to answer the question. V.Give Ss time to read the rest of the questions and write the answers. VI.Have individual Ss write the answers on the board so that the rest of the class can check their work. Step 4. Presentation of sounds and words I.Write “draw” and “drink” on the board and underling the letter “dr”. II.(Point to dr ) Lets practice this sound. III.Let Ss look at Ts mouth and master how to pronounce /dr/ IV.Look at the pictures, listen to the CD first. V.Look at the pictures,listen and repeat. VI.Have Ss repeat after the CD. VII.After enough practice, point to the pictures randomly and have Ss say the words. Step 5 Practice 1 (Read, say and circle) I.Have Ss look at the passages on the page. II. Listen to the sentences. Circle the words that have the final dr. III. T reads the passages slowly and checks if Ss circled the right words. IV.Give some time for Ss to practice reading aloud to themselves. V.When Ss are ready, ask some confident Ss to read the passages out loud. VI.Ask Ss to find out some other words including pronunciation /dr/. VII.Write the words on the board. Step 6 Closure I.Ask Ss to make a sentence using the words and share it with the class. Step 7 Homework: i.Ask Ss to listen to the tape. ii.Ask Ss to copy the words. iii.Ask Ss to write a composition imitating Tonys diary. Design on the blackboard Feed back:
